Practice Random Acts of Kindness

Have you heard the saying "Practice Random Acts of Kindness and Senseless Acts of Beauty?"  It's such a beautiful and powerful thought.  You can add Something Good to another person's life by surprising them with a Random Act of Kindness.

As I was checking out the
Dare to Be an Angel blog yesterday, I discovered that it is Random Acts of Kindness Week.  Wow, what a cool thing to celebrate!  It also seems like the perfect idea to share here at Something Good.

The stories outlining the background of this movement are a little varied, but what seems to be consistent is the description of what a Random Act of Kindness is.

  • Generally, the act benefits a stranger.

·         There is no expectation that the kindness will be returned.

So, are you up for committing some Random Acts of Kindness this week?  Of course, we shouldn't relegate such activities to one week out of the year, but here's an opportunity to start implementing them into our own lives.  You can do something unexpected for a loved one or a perfect stranger.  I'm going to work really hard this week to make sure I do both.

Here’s what some people are doing:

  • This person paid for the lunch of two police officers behind him in at a drive-through restaurant.

  • Kindacts.net offers a list of suggestions for Random Acts of Kindness you can commit for yourself, others and even the earth!

What Random Acts of Kindness are you practicing this week?  Share them in the comments section so you can help inspire us all to do Something Good this week.
